Hell's Gate

Darvaza is a town in Turkmenistan, a nation that borders Iran and Afghanistan. The locals call their amazing geological wonder The Door to Hell. This hole in the ground has a never ending supply of burning gas. The story of its formation claims that more than 35 years ago geologists drilling for gas in the area dug too deep and the ground caved in. The geologists dared not go into the hole to get their equipment. Afraid that poisonous gas would come out of the hole, the geologists set fire into the hole and that fire has just never gone out.

Marina Bay Sands in Singapore

Marina Bay Sands is an integrated resort fronting Marina Bay in Singapore. Developed by Las Vegas Sands, it is billed as the world's most expensive standalone casino property at S$8 billion, including cost of the prime land.

With the casino complete, the resort features a 2,561-room hotel, a 1,300,000-square-foot (120,000 m2) convention-exhibition centre, the 800,000-square-foot (74,000 m2) The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands mall, a museum, two large theatres, seven "celebrity chef" restaurants, two floating Crystal Pavilions, an ice skating rink, and the world's largest atrium casino with 500 tables and 1,600 slot machines. The complex is topped by a 340m-long SkyPark with a capacity of 3,900 people and a 150m infinity swimming pool, set on top of the world's largest public cantilevered platform, which overhangs the north tower by 67m. The 20-hectare resort was designed by Moshe Safdie Architects. The local architect of record was Aedas Singapore, and engineering was provided by Arup and Parsons Brinkerhoff (MEP). The main contractor was Ssangyong Engineering and Construction.

Originally set to open in 2009, Las Vegas Sands faced delays caused by escalating costs of material and labour shortages from the onset. The severe global financial crisis also pressured the company to delay its projects elsewhere to complete the integrated resort. Although Marina Bay Sands has been compared on scale and development costs to MGM's CityCenter, the latter is a mixed-use development, with condominium properties (comprising three of the seven main structures) being sold off.
The resort was officially opened with a two-day celebration on 23 June 2010 at 3.18 pm, after a partial opening (which included the casino) on 27 April 2010. The SkyPark opened a day later on 24 June 2010. The theatres were completed in time for the first performance by Riverdance on 30 November 2010. The indoor skating rink, which uses artificial ice, opened to a performance by Michelle Kwan on 18 December 2010. The ArtScience Museum opened to the public and the debut of a 13-minute light, laser and water spectacle called Wonder Full on 19 February 2011 marked the full completion of the entire Integrated Resort.

Top 10 Richest Countries In The World

This list of the top ten richest countries in the world is based on 2011-2012 reports from the International Monetary Fund, which uses the GDP per capita of each country, adjusted for cost of living and purchasing power. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the total market value of all final goods and services produced in a country in a given year. In the rankings of the World's Top 10 Richest Countries in 2011, Qatar came in first, knocking Luxembourg from its top position. Qatar is an oil rich country with other money-making natural resources, such as natural gas. Despite being the richest country, much of Qatar's population is very poor, and the wealth disparity in the country is extreme.

Once bolstered by the iron and steel industry, Luxembourg's economy is working to maintain its momentum by providing international banking and financial services. Luxembourg, whose population enjoys high standard of living, is also a favorite destination among European countries for political activities, thanks to its central location not far from EU headquarters. Luxembourg, situated in northwestern Europe, is also one of the smallest countries of the world.

Among the countries on the list, four are from Asia (Qatar, Singapore, Brunei, and United Arab Emirates ), five are from Europe (Luxembourg, Norway, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Austria) and one is from North America (USA). International financial services, tourism, petroleum and natural gas exports, electronic goods manufacturing, aiding movement of goods (as in the case of Singapore) and flourished service sector are the keystones behind the economic success of these nations.

Pingualuit Crater

The Pingualuit Crater was created about 1.4 million years ago by a meteorite impact that had the force of 8500 Hiroshima-sized atomic bombs. The 3.44 km (2.14 miles) diameter crater rises 160 meters (520 feet) above the surrounding tundra and is 400 meter (1,300 feet) deep. The lake at the bottom of the crater has a depth of 270 meter (890 feet) and contains some of the purest water in the world. The lake has no inlets or apparent outlets, so the water accumulates from rain and snow and is only lost through evaporation. The crater was discovered in 1943, by a US Air Force plane on a meteorological flight. Pingualuit means “where the land rises” in the local Inuit language.

Fastest Cars In The World

1. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport: 267 mph, 0-60 in 2.4 secs. Aluminum, Narrow Angle 8 Liter W16 Engine with 1200 hp, base price is $2,400,000. Although the Bugatti Veyron lost the title to SSC Ultimate Aero on March 2007, Bugatti challenge the record in Germany on July 10, 2010 with the new 2010 Super Sport Version and the Veyron once again claims the title of the fastest car in the world at 267 mph. The original Bugatti Veyron has a top speed of 253 mph, priced at $1,700,000 and equipped with 1001 hp.

 #2 is a tie at 260 mph!

2. Hennessey Venom GT: 260 mph, 0-60 in 2.5 seconds, has a 6.2-liter LS9 Turbocharged V8 Twin Turbo V8 Engine producing 1200 hp, has a price tag of $950,000. The Venom GT has yet to be tested and proven, but could possibly hit a top speed of 275 mph. This might just be the Veyron Super Sport's closest competitor!

2. Koenigsegg Agera R: 260 mph, 0-60 in 2.9 secs. 5.0-liter V8 Engine with twin turbo’s, housing 1099 hp. Base price is $1,600,000. If you're into snow sports, the Agera R can be fitted with a Ski Box as well as winter tires, not that I would take one on a ski trip or anything like that. While the Agera R has a massive theoretical top speed, the current tested top speed is 260 mph. Expect this snow car to be the Bugatti's arch enemy for the next 5 years.

 Also a tie for #3.

3. SSC Ultimate Aero: 257 mph, 0-60 in 2.7 secs. Twin-Turbo V8 Engine with 1183 hp, base price is $654,400. Tested in March 2007 by Guinness World Records, The SSC Ultimate Aero was the fastest car in the world from March 2007 to July 2010. On March 2011, the Koenigsegg Agera R also surpassed it, forcing this American made car to the #3 spot. Shelby SuperCars will continue their quest to reclaim the fastest car title, and their new SSC Tuatura might do the job (we'll just have to wait).

3. 9ff GT9-R: 257 mph, 0-60 in 2.9 secs. 4.0 Litre V6 Twin-Turbo Engine with 1120 hp, base price is $695,000. Based on the Porsche 911, the 9ff GT9-R 1120 hp version is limited to 20 units and the exterior may be modified to suit the owner.

4. Saleen S7 Twin-Turbo: 248 mph, 0-60 in 2.8 secs. Twin Turbo All Aluminum V8 Engine with 750 hp, base price is $555,000. Smooth and bad-ass. It will make you want to show it off non-stop.

5. Koenigsegg CCX: 245 mph, 0-60 in 3.2 secs. 90 Degree V8 Engine 806 hp, base price is $545,568. Made in Sweden, it is the older brother of the Agera R, only losing to 4 other supercars in the world.

6. McLaren F1: 240 mph, 0-60 in 3.2 secs. BMW S70/2 60 Degree V12 Engine with 627 hp, base price is $970,000. The fastest car in the 20th century with doors that looks like bat wings. Maybe Batman needs to order one and paint it black

7. Zenvo ST1: 233 mph, 0-60 in 2.9 secs. Twin-Charged 7.0 liter V8 Engine forging 1,104 hp. Base price: $1,225,000. The first Supercar from Zenvo Automotive, a Danish sports car company in pursuit of speed and perfection. This 100% Danish made supercar is limited to 15 units and the company even promised "flying doctors" to keep your baby functioning.

There is a tie for 8th place at 225 mph.

8. Gumpert Apollo: 225 mph, 0-60 in 3.0 secs, 4.2 liter V8 Engine that houses 650 hp. Base price: $450,000. Gumpert claims that the Apollo was designed such that it could drive upside-down in a tunnel with speeds at 190 mph or above. Of course, no one has tested this yet.

8. Noble M600: 225 mph, 0-60 in 3.7 secs. Twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 Engine with 650 hp. Base price is $330,000. The Noble M600 also happens to be a very cool car. Its inconspicuous design sports a slender and contoured body which does not scream out for attention at every second of the day.

 There is a 3-way tie for #9!

9. Aston Martin One-77: 220 mph, 0-60 in 3.4 secs. 7.3 litre V12 Engine with 750 hp. Base price: $1,850,000. The production of this is limited to 77, hence the name One-77. This is beauty and power packed into One.

9. Ascari A10: 220 mph, 0-60 in 2.8 secs. 5.0 litre BMW V8 S62 Engine with 625 hp. Base price: $650,000. The company planned to produce 50 of these supercars at its factory in Banbury, England.

9. Lamborghini Aventador: 220 mph, 0-60 in 2.9 secs. V12 Engine with 700 hp, base price is $379,700. According to Lamborghini, Aventador is the name of a Bull that entered into battle at the Saragossa Arena on October 1993. This is the fastest bull in the world!

We have another 3-way a tie for 10th place:

10. Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster: 217 mph, 0-60 in 3.4 secs. Twin turbocharged AMG V12 engine that produces 678 hp. Base price is $1,850,000. The Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster is a limited-edition, with five ever produced. It is the quintessential exotic and exclusive supercar.

10. Ferrari Enzo: 217 mph, 0-60 in 3.4 secs. F140 Aluminum V12 Engine with 660 hp, base price is $670,000. Only 399 were ever produced; the price goes up every time someone crashes.

10. Jaguar XJ220: 217 mph, 0-60 in 3.8 secs. Twin Turbo V6 Engine with 542 hp, base price was $650,000. Made in 1992, this car still has what it takes to make the list.

Ineresting!! China Drive-In Car Museum

3GATTI Architecture Studio of Rome and Shanghai have won a competition to design a drive-in automobile museum in Nanjing, China. An external concentric ramp allows visitors to drive around the exterior of the museum in their own car, past the exhibits, to a roof-top car park. Chief architect Francesco Gatti compares the experience to a “safari” because the visitor, as a motorist, is an exhibit himself. As visitors reach the summit, they can leave their car, walk down the inner spiral ramp, and check out all the exhibits. Once they reach the ground floor, they can take an elevator and return to their car on the roof, or a chauffeur will bring it down for them.

Marine Solar Cells

A new type of solar cells that works in water, invented by a British Industrial designer Phil Pauley. The design of the cells are some what similar to floating mines you see. Its a mesh which actually produces energy from water and sun in the same time. The idea of the creation could be very useful in the marine areas where there is a lot of turbulence.

reflective surface of the water adds up the efficiency of solar component of cells up to 20%. These Marine cells work on a combination of photo-voltaic and natural buoyancy displacement principles. The cells are connected in with some support at the bottom and are interlinked with each other.

Amazingly this technology could be cheap and environmental friendly as these cells are made from recyclable material. As by now this is a existing concept, the production of such cells hasn’t yet started. But soon in near future we will see this type of technology coming to our shores.

Enjoyment For Students

In the Technical University of Munich, also known as TUM, they sure know how to make students enjoy their days at school. Instead of using regular stairs they have installed two giant tubes or better said slides from the 4th floor to the ground floor of their Faculty building for Math and Computer Science.

The students can basically get out of their class in no time; No full elevators or never-ending stairs, just two gigantic tubes you can slide down on, it’s almost like being in an amusement park.

The geniuses behind this work are the German artists Johannes Brunner and Raimund Ritz. They wanted the slides to look like a parabola because after all it is a Mathematics Faculty. Besides, the tubes are something fresh and fun for the students so they can have more pleasure coming to classes
